It is a type of fude (brush) for drawing pictures. In oil painting, there are 
roughly two different types of brushes, one is the round brush and the other is the flat brush. Both types come in various sizes starting from 0 go and as the number of go increases the brushes become bigger. In Japanese painting, there is a thin brush for drawing lines, a thicker one also for drawing lines, a round thick brush for coloring, a flat brush (hake) and a brush made by putting several brushes together.
