Gofun
White pigment made from powdered oyster shells, a technique which has been used in Japanese painting from the Muromachi period to the present.
The word gofun is found in some ancient documents, but it is thought that this in fact refers to enpaku (white lead pigment). When gofun is used for softening other colors by blending, it is called sumi-no-gu (light gray).
