Biography of Chusaku OYAMA
1922 - Japanese painter Chusaku OYAMA was born in Fukushima Prefecture.
1940 - Entered the department of the Japanese painting of the Tokyobijutsugakko.
1943 - Graduated from the department of the Japanese painting of the Tokyobijutsugakko.
1946 - Exhibited at the 2nd Nitten exhibition.
1947 - Became a member of the Issaisha, and became a pupil of
Yamaguchi Hoshun.
1952 - Awarded the Tokusen Prize, the Hakuju Prize and the Asakura Prize at the 8th Nitten exhibition.
1955 - Awarded the Tokusen Prize and the Hakuju Prize at the 11th Nitten exhibition.
1960 - Appointed to a judge of the Nitten.
1968 - Awarded the Monbusho Prize at the 11th Shin-Nitten.
1970 - Appointed to a councilor of the Nitten.
1973 - Awarded the Prize of the Japan Art Academy.
1986 - Appointed to a mamber of the Japan Art Academy.
1992 - Appointed to a director of the Nitten.
1999 - Designated as the Person of Cultural Merits.
2006 - Awarded the Order of Culture.
2009 - Chusaku OYAMA passed away at the age of 86.
