Kokei KOBAYASHI Biography
1883 Japanese painter Kokei KOBAYASHI was born in Niigata Prefecture
1894 Studied under Otosaburo Yamada
1895 Studied under Koha Aoki
1899 Entered the Kajita Hanko Juku, the private school of Hanko Kajita
1906 Became acquainted with Yukihiko YASUDA
1907 Entered the Tatsumiga-kai, a group of Japanese painters
1914 Became the Donin of the Japan Art Institute
1918 Appointed to the Councilor of the Japan Art Institute
1922 Took a journey to Europe with Seison MAEDA
1935 Appointed to a member of the Teikokubijutsuin (now The Japan Art Academy
1944 Became professor of Tokyo Fine Arts School (now Tokyo University of the Arts)
1949 Became professor of Tokyo University of the Arts
1950 Given the Order of Culture
1951 Selected to the Person of Cultural Merits
Resigned as professor of Tokyo University of the Arts
1957 Kokei KOBAYASHI passed away at the age of 74
