Shiko MUNAKATA Biography

1924 Went to Tokyo with the hopes of becoming a Western-style painter
1926 Saw and was impressed by a book of woodblock-printed poems and pictures by the artist Sumio Kawakami (1895-1972)
1928 Visited the printmaker Un'ichi Hiratsuka and received instruction in the woodblock printing technique
Accepted to the 9th Teiten (Imperial Art Exhibition) for the first time
1975 Passed away
