Biography of Chosei MIWA

Portrait of Chosei MIWA1901 - Japanese painter Chosei MIWA was born in Niigata Prefecture.
1917 - Entered Kyoto Prefectural School of Art and Crafts (present Kyoto City Dohda Senior High School of Arts).
1921 - Graduated from Kyoto Prefectural School of Art and Crafts (present Kyoto City Dohda Senior High School of Arts).
Entered Kyoto City Specialist School of Painting (present Kyoto City University of Arts), and studied under Insho DOMOTO.
1923 - Exhibited at the Nitten Exhibition.
1924 - Graduated from Kyoto City Specialist School of Painting (present Kyoto City University of Arts).
1927 - Awarded his first prize at the 8th Teiten Exhibition.
1928 - Married with Mitsu Domoto.
1931 - Won the Special Award at the 12th Teiten Exhibition.
1962 - Awarded the Japan Art Academy Prize.
1969 - Took office as the Director of the Nitten.
Exhibited at the Reorganized 1st Nitten Exhibition.
1975 - Took office as the Executive Director of the Nitten.
1979 - Appointed to the member of The Japan Art Academy.
Awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette, Fourth Class.
1980 - Appointed to the Councilor of the Nitten.
1983 - Chosei MIWA passed away at the age of 82.
