Biography of Horin FUKUOJI

Portrait of Horin FUKUOJI1920 - Japanese painter Horin FUKUOJI was born in Yamagata Prefecture.
1949 - Awarded his first prize at the Restored 34th Inten Exhibition.
1951 - Became a pupil of Seihyo TANAKA.
1960 - Exhibited his work "Kita no Umi" at the Inten Exhibition, and won the Japan Art Institute Award. Became the "Dojin" of the Restored Japan Art Institute.
1971 - Received the Prime Minister Award at the 56th Restored Inten Exhibition.
1984 - Received the Japan Art Academy Award.
1994 - Appointed to the member of The Japan Art Academy.
1998 - Designated a Person of Cultural Merit.
2004 - Given the Order of Culture.
2012 - Horin FUKUOJI passed away at the age of 91.
